    Hi Roberto,

    It is possible to create this type of plot in Surfer. If the Z values in your grid reflect land cover categories, you can create a Color Relief map from the grid file. In the General tab of the Properties window, make sure the Interpolate pixels box is unchecked. This will ensure that each pixel is filled with a single color representing one grid node value. If your grid is at a coarse resolution, this will give your map a blocky appearance.  You can then simply adjust the colormap so that each category is represented by a single color. For example, the Golden.GRD file in the Samples folder can be made to look like this:

    Note that the files downloadable from the link you sent are .IMG raster images, and can be displayed in Surfer by clicking Home | New Map | Base.
