Grapher File Load time

    Hello Kyle,

Do you have the 64-bit version of Grapher installed? For starters I recommend updating, since Grapher 12.2 is an old version of Grapher 12 (the current version is 12.7). I also recommend moving the files to your local machine to load. Additionally, XLSX files can get quite large due to formatting that is saved within the files, so resaving those as smaller DAT or CSV files may help your load time. And, as always, reboot your machine and make sure no other applications are running so that Grapher can access as much memory as possible.

    Thanks,

    Leslie

Thanks for the tips. Yes our company is slow to push out software updates, so I will see what I can do. I am using a 64-bit version. Unfortunately there is a whole group of us that use the data files, so they have to stay on the network. Perhaps there is some solution here if we coordinate. I will certainly try to re-save as a DAT or CSV and report back if that helps. The machine I have has 20+ gigs of free memory so I don't think that is a problem.

On a somewhat related note - when running these through scripter the application throws an error due to the load time. Have you ever experienced this, and if so do you know a workaround?

    Hello Kyle,

If you're having issues loading these in the user interface, I'm not surprised at all that the same issues are arising via automation. I recommend seeing if the DAT/CSV option works via the user interface, and if it does, then try using those files via automation as well.

    Thanks,

    Leslie
