Hi Sabrina thank you for your reply. This does not operate for me, because - the Enhanced Metafile shows bad annotations (e.g. stretched numbers) and each time I change the color scale, I have to redo this whole procedure. I'm looking forward to getting an updated version with the possibility to roate the scale bar. Best, loriot

    Hi Loriot,

I'm sorry that the work around won't work for you. I'm not sure I am seeing the stretched numbers. Could you send me an example GRF file (and associated data) that shows this? If so, I can forward that issue to the programmer to be corrected. You are correct that any changes to the graph would require the entire process again. You could write a script to do this, if this is a process that you would do frequently. The script could then be added as a button on the Developer tab in Grapher 12. This may help because then you would only need to click one command on the Developer tab and the entire process would be done (existing color scale bar copied, pasted, bitmap deleted, text/polygons rotated, etc). Let me know if you want to pursue the script option and I will help you generate a script that would do this.

    Thanks,

    Sabrina

    Hi Loriot,

There is not a way to currently rotate the color scale bar. There is a slight work around that can be used to get the same appearance as a rotated color scale. You can use these steps:

    1. Click on the Graph to select it.
    2. Click the Home | Clipboard | Copy command.
    3. Click the Home | Clipboard | Paste | Paste Special command.
    4. Select Picture (Enhanced Metafile) and click OK.
    5. Select Yes when prompted to break the metafile apart.
    6. Several polygons, text, and a bitmap are pasted. Select the bitmap and press the Delete key on the keyboard.
    7. What's left is the color scale bar. Select all of the polygons and text and click the Arrange | Group | Group command.
    8. You can now rotate the group using the Arrange | Rotate | Custom Angle command. Once you have the pasted color scale bar the way you want, you can turn off the original color scale by clicking on the contour map and unchecking the Show color scale option in the Property Manager. I have added your request to our suggestion file to be able to rotate the color scale.

    Thanks!

    Sabrina
