Assigning Coordinate System (S-JTSK)

    Hi Jerys,

Surfer does not yet support the S-JTSK datum or the S-JTSK Krovak coordinate system. Surfer does support the ETRS89 datum though. If your data uses the Krovak projection, you will need to convert it to another coordinate system that Surfer does support using a different software in order to export it to a KML/KMZ file from Surfer.

Using unreferenced/Cartesian coordinates work fine for simply viewing the map in Surfer, but it will not work to export to a KML/KMZ file. This is because Google Earth KML/KMZ files have to be in lat/long. This is the file format requirement. Therefore, the maps/data in Surfer have to either be in lat/long to begin with, or the maps must have a defined coordinate system (in which case Surfer automatically converts it to lat/long upon export to the KML/KMZ). Since your map is not in lat/long, and it doesn't have a coordinate system defined for it, then Surfer cannot export it to a KML/KMZ file successfully.

For the request, do you mean the actual coordinate values or the "Units to scale inserted content" option under Drawing Utilities | Units (in AutoCAD2011)? If you mean you wish the coordinate values in the DXF file itself were the same as the map, please see our KB article "How do I export a Surfer map using map units? It always exports in page units (inches)" to export the DXF file in map units (view the second half of the article for instructions in Surfer 11, it is much easier in Surfer 12/13). If you mean you wish the drawing unit value was meters instead of inches, let me know and I'll add your vote to this request on our suggestion file.

    Thanks!

    Kari

Hi, Kari Thank you for the answer. I hope, that once Surfer will support JTSK coordinate system. I know difference between map and page units and I really mean the drawing unit value could be choose between meters or inches during export.
