Hyperlink Base layer objects to a file or URL in Surfer

In Surfer, it is possible to hyperlink vector objects in base layers to URLs, or files stored on your computer.

For the hyperlinks to work, they must be associated with Base layer objects, and there must be a column in the Attribute Table titled Hyperlink. The links can then be web URLS or files with the complete file path:

To activate the links, use these steps:

  1. In the Plot view, click View | Hyperlink. The mouse will turn to a magnifier icon.
  2. Hover the mouse over the data points, and the icon will change to a pointer if that object has a hyperlink attribute associated with it.
  3. If the map layer is activated by selecting it, hovering over the data point will also display the URL/file path on the screen
  4. Clicking on the object will then take you to the web page, or open the hyperlinked file.
