Color scatter plot symbols based on numeric data values in Grapher

In Grapher 15 and later, you can apply a colormap or gradient to symbol fill colors based on values in a numeric data column. Follow the steps below to apply a gradient fill to your scatter plot symbols.

  1. Click the scatter plot in the Object Manager to select it.
  2. Click the Symbol tab in the Property Manager.
  3. In the Plot Symbol Properties | Fill section, click in the Color column field and select the data column or row you want to use. This should be the column or row containing the values that will determine the gradient fill.
  4. Select the desired predefined color gradient from the Colormap list, or click the Custom colormap button (Grapher Scatter Plot with Gradient Symbol Fill Color) to define your own.
  5. If desired, check the box next to Show color scale to add a color scale that indicates which values correspond to which colors.

  • I don't find a Color column field as instructed (Grapher 16.8.2). Screenshot below. Somewhat confused about this function...

And the color variable field does not have a color table option... (but I can assign colours in a column)
