How can I create a contour map from my DXF points

If you have a DXF site plan that you'd like to add contours to, Surfer can use the point data in the DXF directly to create a grid file.  Follow the steps below to do this.

  1. Click File | Open.
  2. In the Open dialog, click Common Document Files and select DXF Data.
  3. Select the DXF file and click Open.
  4. Click on an open Plot window or click File | New | Plot Document.
  5. Click Home | Grid Data | Grid Data.
  6. Click Open Data dialog, select the DXF file in the Open worksheets field and then click Open.
  7. In the Grid Data dialog, adjust the gridding parameters as desired and then click OK.
  8. Click OK in the Surfer dialog indicating that the grid was created.
  9. Click Home | New Map | Contour.
  10. In the Open Grid dialog, select the new grid file and click Open.
  11. The contour map is created.
