Can I apply license configuration settings in the registry instead of with a settings file?

The license configuration settings that are applied using a license settings file can be applied by creating entries in the Windows Registry of the client computer.  Follow the steps below to create the appropriate keys in the Windows Registry.

  1. Sign in to the desired end-user's computer account.
  2. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Golden Software\Grapher or Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Golden Software\Surfer.
  4. Right-click the Grapher or Surfer folder and select New | Key.
  5. Enter Licensing as the new key name.
  6. Right-click the new Licensing key and select New | String Value.
  7. Enter the appropriate Name and Data values from the table below.
Name Option Description
Server <IP address> or <Hostname> Specify a server IP address or hostname to configure the application for concurrent-user license use automatically
ProductKeyToActivate <PKID string> Specify a Product Key to activate a single-user or multi-user license to the client PC automatically
HideExpiration True or False True hides the display of the maintenance expiration data in the License Information dialog for any license type.
HideProductKey True or False

True hides the display of the product key in the License Information dialog for single-user and multi-user licenses. This is not applicable to concurrent-use licenses.

DisableCommuting True or False True disables the commuter-license function in the License Information dialog for concurrent-user licenses.  This is not applicable to single-user or mutli-user licenses.
HideRegistration True or False True hides the end-user registration notification dialog from the end user for all license types.
HideUpdate True or False

True hides minor update notifications from the end user.

False shows all update notifications to the user.

HideUpgrade True or False

True hides major upgrade notifications from the end user.

False shows all upgrade notifications to the user.

SetCEIP* Enable or Disable

Enable allows anonymous usage statistics to be tracked and sent to Golden Software periodically.

Disable prevents anonymous usage statistics from being tracked and sent to Golden Software.


**The SetCEIP setting can be overwritten by the user in the software Options dialog by checking the Track Usage box.
