Before importing a file into the existing map view, you should verify what your import settings are. To do so, click File | Options. In the User Interface section, if the checkbox next to Project images is checked, your image will be aligned with the coordinates of the map. If this box is unchecked, the image will not align with the coordinates of the map. The latter can be useful if, for example, your image is a company logo that should not be projected.
