Grapher supports text being displayed in many different languages, but not all fonts support all languages. Empty boxes are displayed instead of the expected text if the font does not support unicode characters. When this happens, you will to change the font to see your text. Instructions for adjusting the font for several different object types are provided below.
Axis Labels:
If the text appears as axis labels, use these steps to change the font:
- Click on the axis to select it.
- In the Property Manager, click on the Labels tab.
- Click the + next to Label Settings, if needed.
- Click the + next to Label Format, if needed.
- Click the + next to Font, if needed.
- Change the Face from the current font to one that supports your language. A good font to try is Arial or Arial Unicode MS. Depending on the language, another font may need to be selected. The labels will now appear on your axis.
Axis Title:

- Click the + next to Title Properties, if needed.
- Click the + next to Font, if needed.

Plot Labels:
If the text appears as plot labels, use these steps to change the font:
- Click on the plot to select it.
- In the Property Manager, click on the Labels tab.
- Click the + next to Label Format, if needed.
- Click the + next to Font, if needed.
- Change the Face from the current font to one that supports your language. A good font to try is Arial or Arial Unicode MS. Depending on the language, another font may need to be selected. The labels will now appear on your plot.
Graph Title:
If the text appears as a graph title, use these steps to change the font:
- Click on the Graph to select it.
- In the Property Manager, click on the Title tab.
- Click the + next to Title Properties, if needed.
- Click the + next to Font, if needed.
- Change the Face from the current font to one that supports your language. A good font to try is Arial or Arial Unicode MS. Depending on the language, another font may need to be selected. The labels will now appear on your plot.
