Add a contour label at a specific place on a contour line in Surfer

If for any reason, you want labels at a particular location where they did not show up, you can manually edit the label positions.

 To do this:

  1. Right-click over the Contours layer in the Contents window and click Edit Contour Labels. Each label has a box around it.
  2. Click and drag the existing labels to new positions along the contour lines, or click on one and delete it by pressing the DELETE key on the keyboard.
  3. To add a new label box, hold the CTRL key down on the keyboard and click on the line where you want to add the label.
  4. Press the ESC key on the keyboard to save the changes and exit the contour label editing mode.

Be aware that manually editing the contour labels such as this should be done last. Any other editing of the contour map, such as filling the contours, will lose the custom label edits.
