If the Draw | Tablet | Tablet Calibration command is not activated in Didger, it means that the tablet driver was not enabled when Didger was launched. This could be for a variety of reasons, including:
- The tablet was not turned on prior to starting Windows.
Some tablets are not plug-and-play. Make sure the tablet is turned on, then restart your computer. Once it is restarted, open Didger and check to see if the Tablet Calibration command is activated. - The tablet connection to the computer was disconnected.
Check to be sure the tablet is securely connected to the computer. - The tablet driver was not installed or not installed correctly.
If you did not install a tablet driver, or installed it correctly, your computer will not recognize the tablet (and neither will Didger). You can determine if this is the case by moving the puck/stylus around on the top of the digitizing tablet. If moving the puck on the tablet does not move the cursor on the screen, this is indicative of a tablet driver problem.
If you do not have a driver installed, most tablet manufacturers have tablet drivers available for download from their website. If you cannot find a tablet driver for your tablet, you might consider trying the virtual tablet driver, which works with over 300 tablets.
You must install the same bitness tablet driver as the version of Didger you are running. If you are running a 32-bit tablet driver, you will need to install the 32-bit version of Didger. If you are running a 64-bit version of the tablet driver, you will need to install the 64-bit version of Didger.
If the driver is installed, it might not be installed correctly. For example, it could be set to the wrong COM port or you may have installed the driver for the wrong version of Windows. Please check that the tablet driver is installed and the settings are correct. You may need to contact the tablet driver manufacturer. - There is a problem with the tablet driver.
We have had many reports from users experiencing problems with the Genius tablets (especially the NewSketch 1812HR). It is caused by a driver issue, even though the Wintab Manager in Didger may say it is ok. You may want to download a virtual tablet driver. Our users have found that this driver solved the problem with the Genius tablets and Didger. Be sure to uninstall the Genius tablet driver before installing this driver.
