If you digitize the objects manually (ie. Draw | Polyline), you can enter the ID information a few different ways in Didger:
- After selecting the object to digitize from the Draw menu, type in the ID information for that object in the Data Attributes section of the Property Manager. Then continue and digitize that object in the plot window.
- After selecting the object to digitize from the Draw menu, check the box in the Enter Data After Creation field in the Increment Settings section of the Property Manager. Then continue and digitize that object in the plot window. You will be prompted to enter the Z value or attribute name after each object is drawn.
- You can also have Didger automatically increment the IDs of each digitized object. After selecting the object to digitize from the Draw menu, in the Increment Settings section of the Property Manager, uncheck the box in the Create Several field and then check the box in the Auto Increment field. After turning on Auto Increment, you can then fill in the Starting Increment Value, the Ending Increment Value and the first Increment Value.
- You can digitize all the objects and then type in the IDs for each object afterwards in the Data Manager.
- You can select an object and enter in the ID information for that object in the Data Attributes section of the Property Manager.
- You can use Assign Elevations to assign ID information to 4 or more polylines. To use this command, go to Map | Data | Assign Elevations and then click and drag your cursor across a set of polylines. Then you are prompted to enter the Starting Elevation and Increment Value. You can also select which ID field you want to populate. When you click OK, the IDs for those polylines are automatically entered.
- You can use Map | Data | Set Attributes, specify the ID information in the Property Manager (i.e. enter the Z value as the Primary ID), and then click on all the objects in your project that have that particular ID value.
If you digitize the contours automatically (Image | Vectorize Image) or import the objects without IDs from another file, you can enter the ID information for the existing objects using one of these methods:
- You can enter the IDs for each object manually in the Data Manager.
