The Grapher 7 MSP update will not install

The MSP file is a Microsoft installation file and is similar to an EXE file.  The MSP file is run by the msiexec.exe program (installed on your computer when Grapher installed if not before).  You may be able to run the msiexe program from the command line or from the command window.  Open a CMD window:

In Windows XP open the CMD by:

  1. Click the Start | Run command.
  2. In the Run dialog
    1. Enter CMD.
    2. Press OK

In Windows Vista and Windows 7 open the CMD by:

  1. Click the Start command.
  2. In the Start Search field, enter CMD.
  3. In the Programs section, click on CMD.

In Windows 8 and Windows 10 open the CMD by:

  1. Hover to the right of the desktop screen.
  2. Click on the Search icon.
  3. In the Search field, enter CMD.
  4. In the Apps section, click on Command Prompt.

Enter the following command in the prompt:

msiexe/p “c:\program files\golden software\grapher 7\Grapher(7.4.2756)_Patch.msp”

If this procedure does not work, verify that the msiexec.exe file is available on your computer and report the version of Windows that you are using.  You can also contact us with your serial number and request full download instructions to avoid using the patch.
