To select multiple objects in a Surfer base layer, copy or move individual objects in a base map, or query base layer objects, you need to be in edit mode for the base layer. To do this:
- Select the Base layer in the Contents window.
- Click Features | Group | Start Editing. Now you can perform more advanced editing functions in the base layer.
- Perform your editing functions. For example, you can copy and paste objects in the base layer, select one or more objects and use the Home | Clipboard | Duplicate command, use the drawing tools to add new objects to the base layer, select multiple items within the base layer, query the objects in the base layer, and move individual objects inside the base layer.
- When you are done with your edits, click Features | Group | Stop Editing to stop editing the base layer. You must exit edit mode before you can access other objects in the project file, or export in map units.
