To make an object partially transparent, select the graphics output module in the Network Manager and change the Opacity setting in the Property Manager to less than 1.0. The opacity for and module can also be changed by editing the colormap for the module in the Opacity Mapping section of the Colormap Editor. 

The most common cause of problems viewing objects through others with opacity less than 1 is the Transparency Type setting in the Viewer window. Choose the View | Transparency Type menu command or right-click in the Viewer window and choose Transparency Type and experiment with the different options to see which one works with your objects.
