Get the latest version of Strater

KB no longer maintained - Strater is a retired product. Golden Software retired products are still supported, but no longer receive new features or updates. Please contact with any questions.

This article contains information about how to update or upgrade to the most recent version of Strater.


Minor updates (e.g. version 5.3 to 5.4)  In March 2018 we updated Strater's licensing to a product key. To continue receiving updates to Strater, please contact us to convert your serial number to a product key for free!


After converting to a product key, future updates can be downloaded by clicking File | Online | Check for Update command. This will download and install the latest update on your machine. Information about the latest version is listed on the Version Info page. 




If you are running Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10 we suggest running Strater as Administrator and then using the File | Online | Check for Update command. To run a program as Administrator, right click over the Strater desktop icon or application EXE file and click Run as administrator.


If you experience any problems with this command or would like to download the full version of the updated software, and you are running the current version or the version just prior to the current version, you can log into the My Account portal on the Golden Software website, click the Serial Number link on the left side, and then click the Download link to the right of your serial number.


If you are using an older version of Strater, please email your registered Strater serial number to Once your serial number is verified, we will send you download instructions. To determine your serial number, click the File | About Strater command. The serial number is listed in the dialog.
