By default, the distances in the well header are calculated using the coordinate system specified for the well map in the map view. You can change the distance displayed in the well header by either changing the coordinate system in the map view or by changing the Distance units in the Well Header tab of the Property Manager (for the Well Header).
If you have collar information in lat/long, but want distances in meters:
- In the map view click on Wells 1 in the Object Manager.
- In the Coordinate System tab of the Property Manager click the Set button.
- Navigate to Predefined | Geographic (lat/lon) | <desired datum> and click OK to set the source coordinate system of the wells layer to lat/long.
- Click on Map 1 in the Object Manager.
- In the Coordinate System tab of the Property Manager click the Change button.
- Navigate to Predefined | Projected Systems | UTM | <desired datum> | <desired zone zone> and click OK to set the target coordinate system of the map to UTM.
If you want to keep the map in lat/long, but have the cross section in UTM:
- In the map view click on Wells 1 in the Object Manager.
- In the Coordinate System tab of the Property Manager click the Set button.
- Navigate to Predefined | Geographic (lat/lon) | <desired datum> and click OK to set the source coordinate system of the wells layer to lat/long.
- Go to the cross section view.
- Click on the well header.
- Change the Distance Units in the Well Header tab of the Property Manager to Meters.
