Identify individual plots with titles and labels in Grapher

Multi-plot graphs allow for the communication of complex information in a concise format.  To ensure clarity, each plot must be easily identifiable through unique attributes and a legend or through the addition of labels. Line style plots in particular can benefit from the addition of individual plot labels instead of or in addition to a legend.

You can add individual plot labels to your plots in Grapher using each of the methods outlined below.

Plot titles

Plot titles are used to identify individual line or point style plots in a multi-plot graph.  For example, plot titles are used in the image below to name each line plot as an alternative to a legend:

Plot titles are added as labels to each plot

Additional information about plot titles and their properties can be found on Grapher's Plot Title Properties help page.

  15. Press ESC on the keyboard to end label movement mode. All of the labels are now next to the appropriate plots.

The legend labels are now placed next to each line in the graph.
