If you are seeing an error message that says “Failed to compute paths for one or more wells. Each well must have a valid top and trajectory (directional survey)” when importing well data or opening a VOXB file that contains wells indicates that at least one of your wells does not contain the required data.
At least one of these conditions needs to be corrected in your data:
- There is not a X, Y, Z coordinate location set for at least one of the wells. Voxler requires a collar location to be specified in the data for all of the wells. This could mean the data is missing for the collar locations for at least one of the wells.
- The directional survey data for at least one of the wells does not contain at least 3 points along the well. Voxler requires at least 3 points along the well to calculate the well path. All directional survey tables require at least 3 rows of survey information per well.
- The well IDs on the collars table and directional survey table do not match for at least one of the wells. Voxler requires the same well ID (or well name) to be in all well data tables for the same well so that the data can be referenced between tables.
