Can I use the Michigan GeoRef coordinate system in MapViewer?

Yes, you can use the Michigan GeoRef system in MapViewer 8. Either during the import process or after clicking Map | Plot | Plot Properties and clicking Change in the Coordinate System tab of the Property Manager, navigate to Predefined | Projected Systems | Regional/National | United States (USA) | USA NAD83 / Michigan Oblique Mercator and click OK.

In MapViewer 7, you have to define this system to use it.

The information below was obtained from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (PDF attached, pages 3 and 4).

Michigan GeoRef uses a form of the Hotine Oblique Mercator projection. You can define the Hotine Oblique Mercator projection either by specifying 2 points on the central line, or by specifying 1 point on the central line and an azimuth.
