Why are there dates for the Grapher axis labels when there should be numbers?

This article provides steps for how to change an axis that is incorrectly showing date/time labels when numbers should appear in Grapher.

In Grapher, the first two columns of data are automatically used for the X and Y values. If the data contains recognized date formats, the axes are automatically formatted for date labels. Most of the time in Grapher 12, when you change the X or Y columns, the axis formatting changes to numbers. If the axis keeps the date labels and you want to show numbers instead, the axis can be manually changed.  To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click once on the axis to select it.
  2. In the Property Manager, click on the Tick Labels tab.
  3. Click the next to the Major Label Text section, if necessary.
  4. Uncheck the box next to the Use date/time format option.

  Uncheck the Use date/time format
box to return to numeric labels.

The axis will now use regular numbers for the tick labels.
