I'm having a problem installing Surfer. How do I create an Installation Log?

Surfer automatically creates an installation log when the installer is run. The installation log is saved to your computer's temporary directory. You can create and find this file by:
  1. Right-click the Surfer installation EXE file and click Run as administrator.
  2. After the installation fails, open Windows Explorer.
  3. In the address bar at the top, clear the contents, type in %temp%, and press ENTER on the keyboard.  Alternatively, you can navigate to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp.
  4. The file is Surfer_xx_installer_log.txt, where xx is the version number of Surfer. Please email the log file to along with the full text of the installation error message.

For Surfer versions 11 and previous, you can specify to create a log file during Surfer installation. To do this:

  1. Click the Windows Start button.
  2. In the Run line, enter the full file path and file name of the Surfer 11 installation EXE file followed by: "/l=C:\Surfer.log"
Note: the quotes must be included, and there's a space between the EXE file name and the first set of quotes.  For example, it could look like (replace the EXE file name with the correct name) C:\Temp\Surfer_Download.exe "/l=C:\Surfer.log"
  3. Click OK or press ENTER on the keyboard to initiate the installation. The log file is created in the location specified (i.e. C:\Surfer.log)
  4. After the installation fails, please email the log file to along with the full text of the installation error message.
