The only way to exit Reshape mode (and other drawing modes) is to press ESC or ENTER on the keyboard, or click on another toolbar icon. If you just left click, you do not exit Reshape mode (note your cursor still stays as the solid black pointer).
The reshape tools was designed this way so you can reshape multiple items without having to go back to the Reshape command. You can select an item, reshape it, select another item, reshape that item, etc. You can keep reshaping multiple items until you exit Reshape mode.
Surfer 8 and previous versions only allowed you to reshape one item and then you had to initiate the command again to reshape another item.
