Add more keyboard shortcuts in Surfer

While Surfer comes with a variety of pre-programmed keyboard shortcuts, it also offers you the ability to create your own. Keyboard shortcuts enhance efficiency by allowing users to quickly perform tasks like creating maps, adjusting settings, and toggling views without navigating through menus. This speeds up workflows, reduces cognitive load, and helps maintain focus while working in the program, especially for users who rely on frequent actions.
Customizable shortcuts further streamline the experience, enabling faster, more efficient data analysis and visualization. Shortcuts can be assigned in the Customize Keyboard dialog. To demonstrate, let's customize a keyboard shortcut that creates a new contour map by following these steps:
  1. Click File | Customize Ribbon.
  2. Click the Customize button to the right of Keyboard shortcuts.
  3. In the Customize Keyboard dialog, click Home in the Categories field.
  4. New Contour Map in the Commands field.
  5. Click in the Press New Shortcut Key box and then press CTRL+SHIFT+C on the keyboard.
  6. Verify that Assigned to reads [Unassigned]. This area displays the command that this shortcut is currently assigned to.
    1. If it does not read [Unassigned], you must pick a new keyboard combination.
  7. Click the Assign button to save it.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Click OK.

You can now use CTRL+SHIFT+C to create a new contour map.
