How can I export contours to an XYZ data file from Surfer?

If you want the XYZ coordinates of the contour lines, there are two ways you can do this easily in Surfer :
  • You can export the contour lines only to a TXT file by selecting the Contours layer in the Contents window and clicking Map Tools | Layer Tools | Export Contours. Choose to save the data in Text format (*.TXT) and click Save. The TXT file has the XYZ coordinates of the contour lines.

  • You can also turn off any other map elements you don't want to export by unchecking them in the Contents window, clicking File | Export and exporting to a CSV or DAT file format. In the Export Options dialog, on the XYZ Options page, make sure the Write Z (elevation) column option is checked.
