If a user needs to load a specific custom CLR file to many modules or to multiple projects, the user can permanently save the CLR file to the list of predefined Colormaps seen in the drop-down menu in the Properties window by adding the CLR to the Colormap.ini file.
Here are the steps to permanently put a custom Colormap (CLR file) in the Voxler’s predefined Colormap drop-down menu:
- Create the custom Colormap in the Colormap Editor dialog (by clicking the ellipsis button next to Colormap in the Property Manager).
- From the Colormap Editor, save the custom Colormap by using the Save button, this creates the CLR file.
- Close Voxler, making sure to save any changes you have made.
- Open Voxler’s App Data directory by opening Windows Explorer and type %appdata% in the address bar. Double-click on the Golden Software directory. Double-click on the Voxler directory. (Voxler 1, Voxler 2, Voxler 3, depending on your version).
- Double-click on the Colormap.ini file, which should open in a text editor.
- Start another instance of your Text editor (Notepad will work) and open the custom CLR file using File | Open.
- Copy the contents of the CLR file by using Edit | Select All and Edit | Copy.
- Close Notepad.
- Move to the text editor that has Colormap.ini open.
- Scroll down in the file until you see the predefined Colormaps.
- Paste the copied Colormap into the list.
- Enter a blank row above where you have pasted the Colormap.
- Enter a name for the custom Colormap that will be displayed on the Colormap drop-down menu.
- Use File | Save to save the updated information.
- Close the text editor.
- Open Voxler and open a VOXB file.
- Select a module and move to the Property Manager.
- Click next to the Colormap drop-down menu and you should see the custom Colormap on the list.
