I keep getting the message "You must have Internet access to activate your license" but my computer is connected to the internet. What can I do?

If your computer is connected to the internet there are a few reasons why the internet access error would be thrown during activation. These include:

  • Your office uses a security firewall or proxy service and that device or service is blocking communication with the Golden Software activation server. To correct this, your IT department will need to whitelist the domain "" for HTTPS.
  • Your computer's antivirus, anti-malware, or security firewall software is blocking the Golden Software program from reaching the Golden Software activation server. To correct this, add the domain "" to the whitelist or allowed list in your security software.
  • The Golden Software activation server may be down for maintenance.  This is rare and does not normally last more than an hour or so.  If you believe this is the cause of the error, please feel free to contact us.

If all else fails, you can use the instructions here to proceed with an offline activation, so you can get Surfer/Grapher up and running.
