Surfer provides two different ways to reshape polylines, polygons, ellipses, rectangles, and rounded rectangles:
- by editing the x,y coordinates of the vertices
- by reshaping to move, add, or delete vertices
The first method can also be used to change the position of a point.
To edit the coordinates of a polyline, polygon, ellipse, rectangle, rounded rectangle, or point:
- Select the object in the Contents or plot document.
- In the Properties window, click the Coordinates tab.
- Click in one of the X or Y cells to edit the value in that cell. The vertex for that particular x,y pair will be shown with a blue diamond symbol in the plot document:
- Press ENTER on your keyboard or click out of the cell to apply the change.
To reshape by moving, adding, or deleting vertices:
- Select the object in the Contents or plot document.
- Click Features | Edit Features | Reshape. The object is outlined with a red line, and the object vertices are displayed with white square symbols.
- To add a vertex to the object, hold the CTRL key down, and then click where you want to add the vertex.
- To delete a point, select one of the existing vertices (it will turn into a green square) and press the DELETE key on the keyboard.
- To change the shape, select an existing vertex and click-and-drag it to a new location.
- Press ESC on the keyboard to exit reshape mode.
Additional information about the reshape command can be found on the Reshape page in Surfer's help.
