How can I get the elevation values of my grid points in Surfer?

If elevation was the z value used to create the grid, you can get the elevation in a few ways:

  1. If you have a map created from the grid file, you can hover your mouse over the map and the x,y,z location of your cursor is shown in the status bar.
  2. If you have a map created from the grid file, you can use the Map Tools | Layer Tools | Digitize command to click on the map and have the x,y,z location of where you clicked display in the Digitized Coordinates dialog.
  3. You can use the File | Open command to open the grid file in the grid editor window, and then you can click on a grid node to display the z value of that node at the top of the window.
