By default, Surfer will plot Post maps using columns A and B in the associated data file as the source X and Y coordinates of the points. It's possible to change this default behavior to use different columns in a data file by modifying the Surfer.SET defaults file.
- Click File | Defaults.
- In the Settings list, scroll down to and expand Map Post.
- Click pXcol.
- Enter the column number (16 for column P) into the Setting value field.
- Set the Setting persistence to All sessions if your data files are all formatted the same, or to Current session only if future data sets will not be formatted the same way.
- Click pYcol.
- Enter the column number (17 for column Q) into the Setting value field.
- Set the Setting persistence to All sessions if your data files are all formatted the same, or to Current session only if future data sets will not be formatted the same way.
- Click OK to apply the changes.
- Click Yes if you want to save the changes to the SET file for use in the future.
