Can I activate and use Surfer on an offline computer?

Yes, it is possible to activate a standalone license of Surfer for use on an offline only computer.  However, a computer with an internet connection is required to complete the process.  Please complete the steps below and then contact us to complete an offline activation.

  1. Install the software on the offline computer.
  2. Open Surfer and click Enter Product Key in the Licensing dialog.
  3. Click Activate Offline in the License Activation dialog.
  4. In the Surfer Offline License Activation dialog, enter your Product key.
  5. Click the Create an Activation Request file link.
  6. In the Browse For Folder dialog, navigate to the desired location for the support file to be saved.
  7. Click OK in the Surfer Offline Activation dialog.
  8. From a computer with internet access, contact Golden Software technical support requesting an offline activation and provide the Activation Request File in your email.

 


 The offline activation workflow above is available for Surfer 14.2 and newer versions.  If you are running Surfer 14.1 or earlier, please follow the steps below to activate the software offline.

  1. Install the software on the offline computer.
  2. Locate your product key(s).
  3. Go to an online PC and download the Wechoid tool at http://downloads.goldensoftware.com/licensing/Wechoid-GoldenSoftware.exe.
  4. Transfer the EXE to the offline computer.
  5. Double-click Wechoid.exe to open the tool.
  6. In the Wechoid dialog, uncheck all options except Ethernet Address, CPU Info String, and UUID.
  7. The Selector value should be 0x3010. If you see a different value here, verify the correct boxes are checked.
  8. Make note of the Host Name and Code or take a screen shot of the dialog.
  9. Contact Golden Software technical support requesting an offline activation.  Please provide the Host Name and Code from the Wechoid tool as well as your Product key(s).
